Drag to pan, scroll or pinch to zoom, or use the buttons. With the drawing focused, the arrow keys pan, plus and minus zoom, and 0 fits the sheet. Every tag, marker and dimension is a focusable target: press Tab to walk them and Enter to select one.
This sheet exists because a floor plan at 1/8" = 1'-0" cannot hold the information a toilet room needs. Everything on A-501 is a piece of A-101 drawn larger, or a wall of one of those rooms drawn as if you were standing in the room looking at it.
Start with the two enlarged plans. Drawing 1 is the pair of accessible toilet rooms, 108 and 109, and drawing 2 is Stair 1 with the elevator beside it. Both are at 1/4" = 1'-0", which is twice the size of the floor plan, so one inch of paper is four feet of building rather than eight. That single fact changes every measurement you take, and it is the most common mistake made on a sheet like this: a reader carries the scale from the plan sheet and reads everything half size.
On the toilet plans, the dashed shapes are not built. A dashed circle five feet across is the turning circle, the space a wheelchair needs to turn around in, and it has to stay clear of the door swing and of every fixture. The dashed rectangle at the lavatory is a clear floor space, 2'-6" by 4'-0", the piece of floor a person has to be able to occupy to use that fixture. The solid dimension from the side wall to the water closet centre line, 1'-6", locates the fixture itself. Clearance, fixture location and fixture size are three different kinds of number and the drawing distinguishes them for you.
The small circles with four numbers in them are interior elevation markers. Each arm points at a wall and carries the number of the drawing that shows that wall, so the marker in Toilet 108 sends you to drawings 9, 10, 11 and 12 on this same sheet. The marker in the circulation desk plan has one arm, pointing north at drawing 4.
An interior elevation is a straight on view of one wall with the floor as the baseline, and the reason it exists is mounting heights. Every height on drawing 12 is dimensioned from the finish floor: the grab bar at 33 inches to its centre line, the lavatory rim at 34 inches, the bottom of the mirror at 40 inches, the operable part of the towel dispenser at 44 inches. The schedule at the right of the sheet lists the same numbers in one place. Note that these are measured to different parts of different things, a centre line for a bar and a bottom edge for a mirror, which is why the schedule says which part of each item it means.
Read drawing 2 with the stair in mind rather than the room. The two runs and the mid landing between them add up to twenty four risers at 7 inches, which is exactly the 14'-0" from Level 1 to Level 2 on the section. Count risers, never treads, when you are checking a stair against a floor to floor height: there is always one more riser than tread in a run.
