Terms of use
The terms that apply when you use ReadTheSet, and the limits of what a training set of drawings can be relied on for.
What this is
ReadTheSet is a training aid for reading construction drawings. The drawings in it are a teaching set for an invented building. They are not construction documents, they have not been reviewed or sealed by anyone, and nothing in them may be built from. On a real project the controlling set, the specifications, the approved submittals and the authority having jurisdiction govern, in that order, and not this site.
The drawings and the project
The Millbrook Branch Library, the town it sits in, its owner, its architect and its engineer are all invented for teaching. Any resemblance to a real project, firm, address or person is unintended. Every sheet, symbol, lesson and question here is authored from scratch.
Conventions and attribution
Drafting conventions such as discipline designators, sheet type numbering, dimensioning practice and standard graphic symbols are facts about how the industry works and are described here in original prose. No text, table, figure, drawing or question from the US National CAD Standard, the AIA CAD Layer Guidelines, an NCCER curriculum, or any commercial course or textbook is reproduced on this site. Those names are used nominatively, to say what a convention is called. ReadTheSet is not affiliated with NCCER, AIA, or NIBS.
What is free
The reading surface is free to use with no account and stays that way: all sixteen sheets in the viewer with the measure tool and the layer tray, the ten lessons, every guide, every reference page, the scale calculator and the question bank. When billing is enabled, a paid tier would sit on top of that and add depth of practice rather than take anything away from it. Nothing that helps you read a drawing gets moved behind a gate to make room for a paid tier.
No account, and your progress
There is nothing to sign up for. Anything the site remembers is stored by your own browser on your own device, which means it can be cleared by you at any time, cannot be recovered by us, and does not follow you to another device. Treat any score you see here as a note to yourself rather than as a record anybody else can verify.
Refunds
Not happy with a purchase? Email [email protected] within 14 days of a first purchase, or within 7 days of a renewal, and we will refund it. Send the message from the email address you used at checkout, and include:
- the email address used at checkout (if you are writing from a different address)
- your access code, shown on the Premium page while you are subscribed on the browser you purchased from
- roughly when you purchased, and which plan (weekly, yearly or lifetime)
- the last 4 digits of the card, if you have the receipt handy
That is everything needed to find the purchase and process the refund. This policy does not limit any statutory rights you may have.
Acceptable use
Use the site for learning and teaching. Do not scrape it at a rate that degrades it for other people, do not present its drawings as your own work, and do not represent anything on it as a real project record.
Warranty and liability
The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, ReadTheSet is not liable for any loss arising from the use of the site or from reliance on anything on it. Reading practice is not professional advice and a passing score here is a self assessment, not a qualification.
Contact
Questions, corrections to a drawing, or a report that a question is graded wrongly all go to [email protected]. A drawing that contradicts itself is a defect and gets fixed.
