Read every tag on a plan against its row here before ordering anything. 2. A door tag is the room number plus a letter, and it names the door that swings into that room. A window tag is a type, so several openings share one row and the size comes from the type, not from the plan. 3. Sizes in the door schedule are leaf sizes. For a pair, the clear opening is that width twice, less the stops and any astragal. 4. A rating in the door schedule applies to the whole assembly: leaf, frame, hardware and any lite. Do not substitute one part of a rated assembly. 5. Finishes are given by room number. Where a room has two wall finishes the schedule says where each one stops, here at 4'-0" above the finish floor. 6. Ceiling heights in the finish schedule agree with the reflected ceiling plan on A-121. Where they differ, the reflected ceiling plan governs. 12 questions in the bank draw on this sheet.
How to read this sheet A schedule sheet has no drawing to orient yourself in, so the way in is always a tag you picked up somewhere else. You are on A-101, you see a hexagon marked 105A, and you come here to find out what that door actually is. Everything on A-601 is built for that trip: tag, row, cell.
The door schedule is the largest table on the sheet and it holds one row for every door in the building, twenty eight of them, on both levels. The tag in the first column is the room number plus a letter, so 105A is the first door into room 105 and 105B is the second. Read across: the room the door serves, the leaf size, the type mark, the leaf material, the frame mark, the fire rating, the hardware set, and the remarks. Two of those columns are references to other parts of this sheet rather than answers in themselves. The type mark sends you to the door type elevations, where F1 is a single flush leaf, F2 a pair of them, SF a storefront leaf, HM1 a hollow metal leaf with a vision panel, and EL a hoistway entrance. The frame mark sends you to the frame type elevations beside them.
Two traps live in the size column. The first is that a schedule gives the leaf size, not the opening. A pair listed as 3'-0" is two leaves of three feet, so the clear opening is close to six feet and not three. The second is that the height column is the leaf height, and the rough opening a framer needs is larger by the frame and the clearances, which is what the frame type elevation is for.
The window schedule is short because it is organised by type, not by unit. There are six types, W1 through W6, and a type carries the size, the material, the operation, the glazing and the head height. The plan tags the openings with the type, so twenty four windows are described by six rows. The units column tells you how many openings of that type the project holds, and where a type is used on both levels with different head heights, the head height cell says so.
The room finish schedule holds one row for every room number in the project, and it is read the same way: room tag on the plan, row here, then across to floor, base, walls, ceiling, ceiling height and remarks. The ceiling height column is the one people forget to check, because on a plan a room is just an outline and nothing on it tells you the room is twelve feet high while the corridor beside it is nine.
